Doom and Gloom Plauges SoCal Surfers
by: Jimbo

Water temps are causing cloudy beaches in SoCal.

It's been hot, sunny and humid around most of the country this summer. By all accounts a "real" summer. Not so in typically sunny socal where the May gray, June gloom syndrome has stuck around all the way through August with seemingly no end in sight.

Here Surfline provides some reasoning as to why this El Nino winter has made this an El Cloudo summer.

Check it here.

TGR Releases Sage Cattabriga-Alosa T-Shirt
by: Jimbo

TGR's new Sage Cattabriga-Alosa organic cotton
T-shirt.
Teton Gravity Research just launched their inaugural athlete signature tee program that will continue throughout 2010 and into the 2011 winter season. TGR is working with their sponsored athletes to each design a signature tee with their own message and design, which will be sold on the TGR website. The 100% Organic Cotton tees are being made exclusively for a limited time over the next few months.

The first tee in the series is available for the month of August and was designed by Sage Cattabriga-Alosa. Sage s design is inspired by his years traveling and filming in Alaska with TGR, as well as elements of what Sage sees in his dreams, which reflects the line on the tee: Let the Totem be your Guide.

This tee is a limited edition that will be available while they last for the month of August. Those who order the tee now on the TGR site will also be entered to win a new pair of Atomic skis (Sage s sponsor). The winner will be picked by Sage himself live on www.tetongravity.com at the end of the month. All of the signature t-shirts are on: www.tetongravity.com.

Australian Man Killed by Shark
by: Jimbo

A Great White is suspected. These stories are creepy...

By the AP - ADELAIDE, Australia An Australian man died Tuesday after being attacked by a shark while surfing off the southwestern coast, police said.
The 31-year-old was attacked while surfing alone early in the morning at a beach near Gracetown, about 175 miles (280 kilometers) south of the Western Australia state capital of Perth.
A police spokeswoman told The Associated Press that the man received life-threatening injuries and died later at Margaret River Hospital. She spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department policy.
The spokeswoman said the man was from nearby Busselton. Police said his identity may be released later Tuesday.
Phil Shaw, regional manager of the state Department of Fisheries, said officers would try to determine if the shark was still in the area, what species it was and whether it posed a risk.
Great white sharks are common off that part of the coast.
In 2004, another local surfer died after a shark attack at a Gracetown beach.
