Over 120 athletes from 22 countries will will partake in two disciplines: vert halfpipe and street. Among the vert athletes are 2009 Dew Cup Champion Bucky Lasek, perennial powerhouse Pierre Luc Gagnon, and stalwart veteran Bob Burnquist.
Lasek who has claimed three Dew Cup career wins is primed for the new season, "Coming back to Boston is like returning to the first battle in the war. It'll be interesting to say the least."
The street contest, which features rails, stairs, and grind ledges that replicate natural urban environments, will be a showdown between rivals.
2009 World Street Champion and three-time Dew Cup winner Ryan Sheckler will look to start strong in Boston after a mid summer injury last year shortened his season. Yet Sheckler will face challenges from 2008 Champ Chaz Ortiz and last year s runner-up Paul Rodriguez.
Rodriguez or P-Rod as he's known, hopes to chart a course towards his first overall Dew Cup title. "I can't wait to get to Boston to start another Dew Tour season and hopefully skate very well."
Others hoping to perform well are hometown street competitors Jerome Rogers and Anthony Shetler as well as local vert legend Andy Macdonald.
Shaun White, who had been scheduled to compete in vert, suffered a rolled ankle while training, forcing him to postpone his return to competition, however the Olympic icon will serve as a host during NBC-TV s broadcast of the vert finals on Saturday, set to air from 4pm-6pm EST.
The street finals will air Sunday, June 27th, 4-6pm EST and will be streamed on Allisports.com
