Large Mavs set wave on Jan 10, 2010
The Mavericks Surf contest is set to go live tomorrow after weeks of anticipation and some infighting amongst contest organizers. Politics aside this event will surely be one to watch as a huge swell is expected and only 24 of the top big wave riders in the world invited. Conditions are expected to be solid with average sets in the 15-20 foot range.
The famed wave is a finicky one, only breaking on the largest swells from the proper direction. The contest will be webcast at http://www.maverickssurf.com/ so you can view all the action from the comfort of your coffee shop, couch or cubicle (if you're unlucky to be in the office on a Saturday).
