With Christmas over you're probably anxious to hit the slopes with the new skis or snowboard you got. You're not the only one and you're not the only one paying attention to where you leave your equipment when taking a bathroom break. Ski locks have long been the solution to thievery at ski resorts, yet Park City opted to take it a step further.
For five years now the Park City Police have run a program that enables people to register for free their equipment. Assigned a unique ID and a sticker decal, the program has seen over 2000 participants without once incident of theft.
"We consider that an indication of success," said Sergeant Bill Morris.

Actually I've just looked at that site again and can't find the article but it basically said you can by any wire lock, which you can find a lot cheaper than looking for a special 'ski' lock
