Jeremy Lusk R.I.P

The American Freestyle Motocross Association (AFMXA), a collective of Freestyle Motocross riders and action sports industry leaders dedicated to managing, protecting and developing the sport of freestyle motocross at both the professional and recreational levels, recently announced the launch of a mobile program to build awareness for the organization. Not coincidently, the program s launch aligns with the Feb. 9, 2010, one-year memorial for the passing of American freestyle rider, X Games gold medalist and Metal Mulisha team member, Jeremy Lusk.

To join the program, Motocross riders and enthusiasts simply need to text GO AFMXA to the 5-digit code, 68398 (for U.S. subscribers only; standard messaging rates will apply). When completed, members will receive an automated response that welcomes them to the AFMXA mobile program and encourages support in Lusk s memory. Additionally, each person that registers will receive a special edition Jeremy Lusk t-shirt.

The introduction of the AFMXA Mobile Program adds another dimension to our organization, which has been largely inspired by the memory of Jeremy and the athletes who represent it, said Toby Bost, AFMXA advisory board member. We encourage everyone who follows the sport in any way to take a moment of silence to remember Jeremy on Tuesday, February 9th, and to visit AFMXA.com to learn how to become actively involved in promoting our mission.

In recognition of the one-year memorial for Lusk, the Pala Raceway, located at 12799 Highway 76 in Pala, Calif., will donate proceeds generated from admission fees on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, to the AFMXA, which has designated the Lusk Legacy Foundation the official charity of the
organization. Established in 2009, the Lusk Legacy Foundation strives to help improve overall safety in the sport, protect the livelihoods of riders and their families, and provide them with legal, medical and financial consultation and representation.

We are proud to support the AFMXA and have believed in their message since day one, said President of Pala Raceway, Ryan Oullette. We look forward to the Jeremy Lusk ride day on Wednesday and encourage everyone to come and enjoy a great day of riding in honor of a great man.

Metal Mulisha s Ryan Hagy added, It has been one year since Jeremy s passing and he is greatly missed. This day (Feb. 9th) is a very sad one for our team, fans, friends and family and we intend to celebrate his life and the impact he has made on our lives and the sport. Rest in peace Jeremy.
