The movie Jaws is over 30 years old and took place on a fictional island called Amity, which was meant to take place in the Northeast, presumably in and around Cape Cod (the film was actually filmed on Cape Cod). White Sharks are more often associated with places like California, South Africa and Australia, but already this summer 12 Great White sharks have been spotted of the beaches of Chatham, MA, which is on the elbow of Cape Cod. Officials have closed some of the beaches to swimming for precautionary reasons, and who knows when it will be safe to back into the water. Grrr...
