In Sunday s slopestyle competitions held in Big Bear Lake, Calif., Arens switch 900 to 540 into a switch 720 impressed the judges in the freeski contest, giving the 19-year-old South Lake Tahoe, Calif.-native the win over a field of 30 skiers.

The comp was fun, there were a lot of good skiers, said Arens. The finals are going to be awesome; I can t wait.

When it came time for the snowboard slopestyle competitions, Fredonia, N.Y.-native Reininga, 19, bested 18 others in the men s field, landing a frontside 1080 as well as a switch 720 for the victory, while Ortanez, an 18 year old from La Jolla, Calif., landed a clean frontside 360 into a back 360 to earn her spot atop the women s snowboard slopestyle podium.

Today was sick! added Reininga. I m so happy I won. It totally made sleeping in my car worth it.

The contest was super fun, commented Ortanez. I m so glad I won today after getting third place at Mountain High last week.

With the wins, all 11 amateur snowboarders and freeskiers earn automatic bids into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour s Toyota Championship, February 4-7, 2010 at Mount Snow Resort in Vermont.

The inaugural Gatorade Free Flow Tour concludes on its 10-stop circuit, travelling to Brighton Resort (Utah), Loon Mountain Resort (N.H.) and Mammoth Mountain Ski Area (Calif.) for slopestyle and superpipe competitions, Jan. 30-31.
