Level of freeskiing is at an all-time high.

More blue skies and perfect weather kicked off Day Three of the Wendy s Invitational Dew Tour stop this Saturday @ Snowbasin, Utah. Tons of freesking and snowboard fans rolled out to watch the ski and snowboard superpipe finals.

With ski superpipe finals starting long before the crew s hangovers had worn off, our coverage was about as thin as the snowpack in Utah. Through blurry eyes we watched as Sarah Burke dropped a 9, a 5, and a 7 to start her season off with a win, followed up by insane runs from winner Jossi Wells and 2nd and 3rd places finishers Simon Dumont and Peter Olenik. Wells dropped a floaty flatspin and a crowd pleasing double cork to cap his first ever Winter Dew Tour win and at only 19 years old he "couldn't be more stoked."

The night pipe - so inviting.

Ski slope prelims were held right after the pipe, and to be honest, all I can saw is wow! The level of skiing has risen exponentially and doublecorks, 9s, 10s, and 12s were thrown almost casually by nearly the whole field. Local college student and pro skier Tom Wallisch, who didn't run in the prelims because he was prequalified from previous wins said, "You definitely gotta be watching for Bobbi Brown, Phil Casabon, JF Houele - everybody's going to be killing it ... The jumps aren't quite as big as the ones in Breck, so you've gotta be on your game, but there's more than enough room to drop doubles all day."

Who doesn't like a little flash-lit method?
Women's Snowboard Halfpipe saw strong riding from the entire field with standouts including Jamie Anderson, winner Elena Hight, and 2nd and 3rd place finishers Kaitlyn Farrington and Querait Castellet.

Alli "After Dark" parties = good times.
Men's snowboard pipe kicked off under a dark Utah night sky, where nearly all the riders fell on at least one of their runs, including man-beast Scotty Lago and winner Danny Davis. Lago should have been on the podium with double overhead airs the whole way down the pipe . The kid is the sickest, that s that.

Steve Fisher claimed second with constant and smooth riding while Jack Mitrani redeemed a sub par first run with nothing less than a banger second run. Davis only dropped one doublecork, saying he was playing it smart, I just wasn t feeling it (multiple doublecorks) today.

Some of the event spectators.

Smart indeed because with his second win in Dew Tour Pipe, he s well on his way to dominating the entire tour and with a win @ the upcoming stop number three in Vermont, he would clearly become the most dominant half pipe rider of 2009/2010.

Day four starts bright and early tomorrow with both Men s and Women s ski/snowboard slopestyle finals with huge ski names and personalities such as Tom Wallish and Simon Dumont and next level snowboard killers like Torstein Horgmo, Halldor Helgason, Danny Davis, and Scotty Lago all ready to drop doubles and jaws in more perfect Utah weather.
